It takes blood, sweat, and tears just to be who you were to begin with. 

It is easy to misunderstand our identity and lose sight of our true value and worth in a world that constantly bombards us with messages of comparison, achievement, and material success. We find ourselves striving for acceptance and validation, seeking to define ourselves based on the ever-changing standards of the world. 

However, as followers of Christ, our identity is not determined by the opinions of others or the fleeting trends of society. Our true identity lies in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Understanding our identity in Christ is of paramount importance. It is not merely a self-esteem boost or a psychological exercise; it is at the core of our spiritual journey and our reality. When we grasp the depth of God's love for us and recognize the immense sacrifice made on our behalf, we begin to understand the immeasurable value placed upon us by our Creator. We are not defined by our accomplishments, our possessions, or our outward appearance. Instead, our worth is rooted in the fact that we are children of God, made in His image and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

The goal of our lives as followers of Christ is not to accumulate wealth, gain fame, or achieve worldly success. While these things may happen in some of our lives, our ultimate goal is to become more like Jesus. He is the perfect example of what it means to live a life surrendered to God the Father and obedient to the empowering Holy Spirit. 

Jesus had unwavering certainty about His identity. He knew who He was and embraced His purpose without hesitation. The world could not sway Him or define Him because His worth and value came from His intimate relationship with the Father.

In our journey to become more like Jesus, we must recognize that our worth is not based on our own efforts or achievements. It is not dependent on our social status, job titles, or accolades. Our worth is found in the unchanging character of God and the unshakable truth of His Word. When we fully embrace this truth, we can walk counter to the expectations of the world with confidence.
